Marbled Knot-horn Acrobasis marmorea

Normally when I find a new moth I get quite excited, but on this occasion I thought I'd seen them before. I realised I hadn't done so for a while, but it was only when I entered my records for the night on my database that I realised it was a completely new moth for me! It's actually a scarcer species than I appreciated - this was the first record for the 10km square and there's only one previous record (25 years ago) in any of the neighbouring 10km squares. I would have brought it in for some more detailed photos if I'd realised how unusual it was, but fortunately I took enough photos and it's a straightforward enough ID that I think I have documented it adequately. The moth looks paler in the first two photos below, but this is a consequence of using the flash - angling the moth away slightly (third photo) fixed that problem but wasn't an ideal pose. The last two photos were taken with the TG7 with ring diffuser and focus stacking, which also got round the problem of reflecting the flash.
