Oleander Hawk-moth Dpahnis nerii
This must be just about the ultimate moth of dreams, perhaps even more so than Death's Head Hawk-moth - and quite a bit rarer (in the UK). The sort of thing that if you found one in your moth trap the unexpected burst of adrenalin and excitement could well induce a coronary.
This example was bred in captivity from purchased stock. It was loaned by the breeder to a friend who kindly showed it to me (I don't normally do captive-bred Lepidoptera but it seemed churlish to turn down this oppportunity).
