White Cloaked Tortrix Gypsonoma aceriana
Formerly given the vernacular name Rosy Cloaked Shoot.
Given how widespread this species is in Norfolk it's perhaps surprising that I hadn't ever recorded it before these, but even so it was a surprise to find my trap, this time a Skinner trap with LEDs, heaving with them. I estimated at least 30 including several mating pairs, though it may have been considerably more than that. I have trapped many times in this area but never before at this precise site which was in the middle of a belt of poplars (the larval foodplant of this species).
I was reasonably confident of the ID in the field, but to avoid possible regrets later on when I got home and researched the ID more thoroughly, I retained one individual which I later gen detted.

I caught another a few days later at a different site where I've trapped many times before.
