Euophryum confine

This beetle turned up in my vane trap. It keyed to Euophryum easily enough but using Duff I wasn't entirely convinced that it was confine not rufum (the latter being very much less likely in Norfolk). It was a little bit difficult to understand what Duff meant by the differences in the excision on the lower rim of the scrobe but his diagrams showing the rostrum from almost above show an excision near the base on rufum which seemed to match mine. Duff describes the antennal club as being acuminate apically on confine and rounded on rufum, but doesn't illustrate this so it wasn't clear whether the rather blunt, even slightly rounded, point on mine counted as acuminate or rounded. Hackston shows differences in genitalia but before I was able to check that I found Mark Gurney's high res photos of both species on Flickr. A quick look at these left me in no doubt that mine was confine, as this shows a similar excision at the base of the rostrum to mine (much larger on rufum which also had a broader shorter rostrum beyond this). The antennal club shape was also very clear with rufum being much more obviously rounded.
